The
name Mason Dixon and Tampa Bay radio have become synonymous over the
past 20 years. Mason's name recognition is so overwhelming in the
area, that everyone from the grandmother next door to the kids in the
carpool know who he is. So loyal are his fans, that Mason has been
able to begin yet another successful leg of his career at Q105. Along
with his partner, Bill Connolly, Mason has used humor and community
awareness and caring to help ease the tensions of that morning drive
to work. Revered not only in his community, Mason's accomplishments,
both on the air and as a programmer, have been acknowledged by his
compatriots in the radio industry. Mason has been named Air
Personality of the Year and Operations Manager of the year by various
radio publications throughout his career. Most recently, Mason was
named Billboard Magazine "Air Personality of the Year" for 1996.
Mason's trademark brand of community oriented, fun-loving radio has
been a blueprint for many radio stations around the country. Mason has
been involved in the community for as long as he has been in the Bay
area. Some of his charitable contributions include the Alzheimer's
Association, the American Cancer Society, Metropolitan Ministries, and
his own Christmas Wish. Through the Christmas Wish, Mason and Q105 will
band together with Tampa Bay area businesses to make sure hundreds of
less fortunate families enjoy a happy holiday. The volume of
contributions and letters of help reflect the impact Mason has had,
and continues to have in the Tampa Bay community. Mason is married and
has 2 daughters and many pets. In his spare time he enjoys working on
old cars, playing guitar, boating and snow skiing. Mason decided long
ago to make Tampa his home, and his loyal listeners have enabled him
to raise his family in the community he loves.
